SOLUTION :

The length of the wooden box = 1 m = (1 × 100)cm = 100 cm   (given)

[ ∴ as 1m = 100cm]

The breadth of the wooden box = 60 cm       (given)

The height of the wooden box = 40 cm         (given)

To be found :-

The outer area of the wooden box

It means we have to find the Total Surface Area of the wooden box

As the wooden box has different length, breadth and height so it's a cuboid

Total Surface Area of a cuboid = 2(lb + bh + lh) unit sq.

[ ∴ In which l is the length, b is the breadth and h is the height of the cuboid ]

Now,

Total Surface Area of wooden box = 2(lb + bh + lh) unit sq.

[ ∴ In which l is the length, b is the breadth and h is the height of the cuboid ]

Total Surface Area of wooden box = 2(100×60 + 60×40 + 100×40) cm sq.

                                                          = 2(6000 + 2400 + 4000) cm sq.

                                                          = 2 × 12400 cm sq.

                                                          = 24800 cm sq.

Hence,

The total outer surface area of the wooden box is 24800 cm sq.
