we have to find the displacement and average velocity of the tip of the minute hand when it moves during a time interval from 4 : 15 pm to 4 : 45 pm.

minute hand makes 2π angle in 60 minute

so, mind hand makes π angle of 30 minute. i.e., path of minute hand is semicircle.

displacement covered by minute hand, s = diameter = 2 × 8 = 16 cm

average velocity = displacement/time taken

= 16cm/30 min = 0.533 cm/min
