Step-by-step explanation:

In ∆ABD,

applying Pythagoras theorem ,

AD^2 + AB^2 = DB^2. .......(1)

given,

AB = 8 cm,

DB = 10 cm.

from equation 1,

AD^2 = DB^2 - AB^2

AD^2 = 100 - 64

AD^2 = 36.

therefore,

AD = BC =6 cm. ............(in a rectangle opp sides are equal)
