let the recangle length be 'l' and breadth be 'b'

givenzlength exceeds breadth by 4 l=b+4

area of original rectangle is (b+4)(b)

if length exceeds by 3cm,breadth exceeds by 2cm,new rectangle area obtained minus original area is 79cm^2

(l+3)(b+2)-(b+4)b=79

but l=b+4 hence,

(b+4+3)(b+2)-b^2-4b=79

(b+7)(b+2)-b^2-4b=79

b^2+2b+7b+14-b^2-4b=79

2b+7b-4b=79-14

5b=65

b=13cm

hence l=b+4=13+4=17cm
