the length of a rectangle exceeds the width by 14 cm, perimeter of rectangle is 160cm, find the length and width of the rectangle?

Let the width be x.
Then the length= x+ 14
perimeter of the rectangle= 2(l+b)
160 cm = 2(x+14+x)
160 = 2 (2x+ 14)
160 = 4x + 28
160 - 28 = 4x
132 = 4x
132 /4 =x
33 = x

length = 33 + 14 = 47 cm
breadth = 33cm
