S O L U T I O N :

Let the width of a rectangle be x cm & let the length of a rectangle be 3x + 2 cm respectively.

The perimeter of the rectangle = 36 cm

As we know that formula of the perimeter of rectangle;

\boxed{\bf{Perimeter = 2(length + breadth) }}

A/q

\mapsto\tt{2(3x + 2 + x ) = 36}

\mapsto\tt{2(4x + 2  ) = 36}

\mapsto\tt{8x + 4  = 36}

\mapsto\tt{8x = 36- 4}

\mapsto\tt{8x = 32}

\mapsto\tt{x = \cancel{32/8}}

\mapsto\bf{x =4\:cm}

Thus,

  • Length of a rectangle, (L) = 3x + 2 = 3(4) + 2 = 12 + 2 = 14 cm
  • Breadth of a rectangle, (B) = x = 4 cm
