Answer

width = 4 cm

Solution:

Let the width of the rectangle be x cm

Then, length of the triangle = 3x - 2

Perimeter of rectangle = 2( l + b )

28 = 2 ( l + b )

28 = 2 ( 3x - 2 + x )

28 = 2 (4x - 2 )

28 = 8x - 4

8x - 4 = 28

8x = 28 + 4

8x = 32

x = 32 / 8

x = 4 cm.

hence , the width of the rectangle = x = 4cm

and the length of the rectangle is = 3x - 2

= ( 3 × x) - 2

= ( 3 × 4) - 2

= 12 - 2

= 10 cm.
