The length of a rectangle is 2m more than its breadth. If the area of rectangle is 120cm2 find the length and breadth.

Given, l = b + 2

and

Area = l x b = 120 ...... (1)

Put b = l - 2 in equation (1)

Thus, l x (l-2) = 120

l^2 - 2l - 120 = 0

(l - 12) (l + 10) = 0

Thus, l = 12 and by putting this value of l in (1), we get b = 10
