let breadth be x m,

length =x+2

area = l×b

120 = x(x+2)

x^2 + 2x =120

x(x+12) _10(x+12) = 0

x= 10 x= _12

length = 12 m and breadth = 10 m

Answer:

Breadth = 10 cm

Length = 12 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Let breadth of rectangle be x.

=> Length = x + 2

Area of rectangle = 120 cm²

=> Length × Breadth = 120

=> x ( x + 2 ) = 120

=> x² + 2x = 120

=> x² + 2x - 120 = 0

By splitting middle term, we get

=> x = 10 and -12

Rejecting the negative value, we get

=> x = 10 cm

  • Breadth = 10 cm
  • Length = 10 + 2 => 12 cm
