Answer :-

The dimensions of the rectangle is 13cm*10cm.

Step-by-step explanation

To Find :-

  • The dimensions of rectangle.
  • [Length and breadth]

Solution

Given that,

The length of rectangle is 3cm more than breadth of rectangle.

The perimeter of rectangle is 46cm.

Assumption

Let us assume the length and breadth of rectangle as (3 + x)cm and (x)cm.

F I G U R E :-

  • Refer the attachment.

As we know that,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b),

Where,

→ l = length

→ b = breadth.

Therefore, According the question,

→ 2(l + b) = Perimeter

→ 2(3 + x + x) = 46

→ 3 + x + x = 46/2

→ 3 + x + x = 23

→ 3 + 2x = 23

→ 2x = 23 - 3

→ 2x = 20

→ x = 20/2

→ x = 10

The value of x is 10

Now, The length and breadth :-

We assumed the length of rectangle as (3x) and breadth of rectangle as (x). Therefore.

  • Length = 3 + x = 3 + 10 = 13cm
  • Breadth = x = 10cm

Hence,

Length = 13cm ; Breadth = 10cm.
