let, breadth ( b ) = x

length ( l ) = x + 5

perimeter = 2 ( l + b )

40 cm = 2 ( x +5+ x )

20 = 2x + 5

2x = 20 - 5

2x = 15

x = 7.5 cm.

x + 5 = 7.5 + 5 = 12.5 cm

length = 12.5 cm.

Breadth = 7.5 cm.

Answer:

BREADTH=XCM

LENGTH = 5+XCM

PERIMETER=40CM

PERIMETER OF RECTANGLE IS 2[L+B]

2[X+5+X]=40CM

2[2X+5]=40CM

2X+5=40/2

2X=20-5

X=15/2

X=7.5

BREADTH=7.5CM

LENGTH=5=7.5

=12.5
