Given -

  • Length of rectangle is greater than Breadth by 5 m

  • Perimeter of Rectangle is 250 m

To find -

  • Length and Breadth

Formula used -

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(L + B)

Solution -

In the question, we are provided with the perimeter of the rectangle and it is also stated that the length is greater than Breadth by 5 m and we need to find it's length and breadth. For that, we will take common value as x after that we will, substitute the values then we will find the length and breadth.

Let -

The common value be x

So -

Length, L = x m

Breadth, B = x + 5 m

Perimeter, P = 250 m

Perimeter of rectangle -

Perimeter = 2(L + B)

On substituting the values -

→ P = 2(L + B)

→ 250 m = 2(x + x + 5)m

→ 250 m = 2(2x + 5) m

[After multiplying 2 with 2x and 5]

→ 250 m = 4x + 10 m

→ 250 - 10 = 4x m

→ 240 m = 4x m

→ x = 240/4 m

→ x = 60 m

Now -

We will find the value of length and breadth of the rectangle.

→ Length = x = 60 m

→ Breadth = x + 5 = 60 + 5 = 65 m

Verification -

→ P = 2(L + B)

→ 250 m = 2(60 + 65) m

→ 250 m = 2(125) m

→ 250 m = 250 m

Given :-

Perimeter = 250

Length is 5 more than breadth

To Find :-

Length and breadth

Solution :-

We know that

Perimeter = 2(l + b)

Length = l + 5 and breadth = l

250 = 2(l + 5 + l)

250/2 = 2l + 5

125 = 2l + 5

125 - 5 = 2l

120 = 2l

120/2 = l

60 = l

Breadth = 60 m

Length = 60 + 5 = 65 m
