Given, Perimeter of rectangle = 36 cm

Let the width be x cm

So, the length will be (x + 8) cm

We know that,

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (l + b)
=> 36 = 2 (x + 8 + x)
=> 36 = 2 (2x + 8)
=> 36/2 = 2x + 8
=> 18 = 2x + 8
=> 18 - 8 = 2x
=> 10 = 2x
=> x = 5

Hence, the width is 5cm and the length will be (x + 8) = 5 + 8 = 13 cm.
