Step-by-step explanation:

here let width be w

according to the given condition

length = width+4

we know that area of the rectangle is  32

length x  breath = 32

putting the value of length = width+4

we get

(w+4)x w = 32

w²+4w= 32

w²+4w-32=0

w²+8w-4w-32=0

w(w+8) - 4(w+8)

(w-4) (w+8) =0

w=4 or w=-8

as the width cannot be negative so answer is 4 so the width is 4 units
