Let the breadth be x

Length=thrice the breadth=3x

Given area=432m²

Area=Length×Breadth

=>x×3x=432

=>3x²=432

=>x²=432/3

=>x²=144

=>x=√12

Breadth of rectangle=12m

Length=3x=3×12=36m

Given :-

  • The length of a rectangular field is thrice its breadth if the area of the field is 432 square meters

To find :-

  • Breadth and length of rectangular field.

Solution :-

  • Area of rectangular field = 432 m²

As we know that

  • Area of rectangle = l × b

Where " l " is length and " b " is breadth of rectangle.

  • According to question

Let the breadth be x then its length be 3x

→ Area of rectangular field = 432 m²

→ l × b = 432

→ 3x × x = 432

→ 3x² = 432

→ x² = 432/3

→ x² = 144

→ x = √144

→ x = ± 12 m

  • Length and breadth never in negative

Hence,

  • Length of rectangular field = 3x = 36 m

  • Breadth of rectangular field = x = 12 m
