The length of a rectangular hall is 4 metres more than its breadth. If the perimeter of the hall is 56 metres, find its length and breadth.

let breadth off rectangle be x

therefore length x+4

perimeter of rectangle =56

perimeter of rectangle=2(l×b)

56=2(x+4+x)

56/2=2x+4

28-4=2x

24=2x

x=24/2

x=12

therefore length=12+4=16metre

and breadth=12 metre
