Given:

The length of a rectangular plot is 15 metres more than its breadth.

To find:

If the cost of fencing the plot is rs. 2700 at the rate of rs. 30 per metre, what is the length of the plot in metres

Solution:

From given, we have,

The length of a rectangular plot is 15 metres more than its breadth.

⇒ l = b + 15

The perimeter of the plot = 2(l + b)

= 2 [(b + 15) + b]

= 2 [2b + 15]

= 4b + 30

The cost of fencing the plot is Rs. 2700 at the rate of Rs. 30 per metre

30 × (4b + 30) = 2700

120b + 900 = 2700

120b = 2700 - 900

120b = 1800

b = 1800/120

b = 15 m

l = 15 + b = 15 + 15 = 30 m

Therefore, the length of the plot in metres is 30 m
