Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length of the rectangle be 100 Unit

and the breadth of the rectangle be 100 unit.

So area of the rectangle=100×100=10000 sq.unit

If the length is increased by 40%,

new length=140 unit

If the breadth is decreased by 40%,

new breadth=100-40=60 unit.

So area of resulting rectangle

=140×60=8400 sq. unit

Now ratio of the area of resulting rectangle to that of original rectangle=8400/10000

=84/100=21/25=21:25.(answer).

hope it will help you.
