i think its because the rotational axis has a 90° angle to the imaginary line between the centre of the sun and center of the earth.... the sun is right above the equator..... for example take a ball, draw a line signifying the equator and try rotating it at different angels.....thankyou

we know that the of Axis of eatrh is not a perfect vertical it is inclined and along with it its rotation on its axis result in the length of day and night being nit equal at all places on the earth...
