The length of each of the two equal sides of an isosceles triangle is 4m mre than twice the length of the third side. Find the dimensions of the triangle if the perimeter is 48m​

  • Find : dimensions of triangle.

Solution:

Let the third side of triangle be X

Therefore:

Length of equal sides = 4+2x

Now perimeter= 48

:-: (4+2x)+(4+2x)+X = 48

:-: 4+4+2x+2x+X = 48

:-: 8+5x = 48

:-: X = 48-8/5

:-: X = 8

Therefore dimensions are

X = 8m

Equal sides = 4+2x

= 4+2×8

= 20m

Therefore sides of triangle

= 20m , 20m and 8m
