let length be x and breadth be y , Area of rectangle be z
From first condition,
x=y+5
Area of rectangle = length× breadth
x × y = z
y+5 ×(y)=z
y^2 + 5y = z
y^2 + 5y is the area of rectangle
From second condition,
(x-2) × (y+1) = z - 4
(x-2) × (y+1) = (y^2 + 5y)-4
x (y+1) -2 (y+1) = 4y^2 -20y
xy + x - 2y -2 = 4y^2 -20y
4y^2 -20y +2y = xy +x -2
4y^2 -18y -xy -x -2 =0
