The length of rectangular park is 8m more than its breath if area of park is 240m then find the length and breath of the park

so, length of the park (l) = x +8m


Now, A/Q,

l × b = 240


(x+8)x = 240

x^2 + 8x = 240


x^2 + 8x - 240 =0


x^2 + ( 20 - 12 )x = 0


x^2 + 20x -12x = 0


x (x+20) - 12 (x+20) = 0


(x+20) (x-12) = 0



Hence, either x= -20

or x= 12

Since dimension cannot be negative, therefore, x (breadth) = 12 m

And, x+8 ( length) = 12+8= 20 m.
