Step-by-step explanation:

Diagonal of square = a × Root( 2 ) { where a is side of square }

Squaring both side , we get

( d ) ^2 = a ^2 × 2

10 × 10 = a^2 × 2

a ^ 2 = 50

a = Root ( 50 )

Now , side = Root( 50 )

area = side × side = Root ( 50 ) × Root ( 50 ) =50 sq.cm.
