d 1 = 16 cm
1/2 d1 = 16/2 = 8 cm
d 2 = 12 cm
1/2 d2 = 12/2 = 6 cm
The diagonals of a rhombus bisect at right angles.
By pythagoras theorem,
hyp² = base² + alt²
hyp² = 8² + 6²
hyp² = 64 + 36
hyp = √100
hyp = 10 cm
∴ the side of the rhombus is 10 cm.
