The length of the trains A and B are 176 m and 279 m respectively. Time taken by the trains to cross each other (from the moment they meet) when they are travelling in opposite direction is 7 seconds and that when they are travelling in same direction Is 91 seconds. What is the speed of the slower train ? (in kmph

Answer:

the speed of the slower train = 108 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

The length of the trains A and B are 176 m and 279 m respectively.

Let say speed of Slower Train = T m/s

let say speed of Faster train is a m/s more

=> Faster Train Speed = T + a m/s

When They are Travelling in same direction then their net speed

= T + a - T =  a m/s

Distance to be covered = 176 + 279 = 455 m

Time Taken = 91 Sec

Speed = 455 /91 = 5 m/s

=> a = 5 m/s

When They are Travelling in opposite direction then their net speed

= T + T + a  = 2T + a = 2T + 5 m/s

Speed = 455/7  = 65 m/s

2T + 5 = 65

=> T = 30 m/s

30m/s  = 30 * 3600/1000 km/hr = 108 km/hr

the speed of the slower train = 108 km/hr
