Given ,

The line joining the points (2,-3) and (-5,1) is parallel to the line joining the points (7,-1) and (0,y)

We know that ,

 \boxed{ \sf{Slope  \: (m)  =  \frac{ y_{2} -y_{1} }{x_{2} - x_{1}} }}

And if two lines are parallel to each other ,

 \boxed{ \tt{  m_{1} =m_{2}}  }

Thus ,

 \mapsto \tt \frac{ 1 - (- 3)}{ - 5 - 2}  =  \frac{y - ( - 1)}{0 - 7}

  \mapsto \tt \frac{4}{ - 7}  =  \frac{y + 7}{ - 7}

 \mapsto \tt 4 = y + 7

 \mapsto \tt y =  - 3

Therefore , the value of y is -3
