The little match girl is a sad fairy tale of about a poor little girl. The story is about a girl who wanted to escape from the harsh world. She was so poor that she was not able to get the basic amenities in her life. In such a cold winter night she was barefooted. Also, she was very sad and worried that she had not sold any of the matchsticks. In the light of the matchsticks, she was able to view her grandmother, beautiful Christmas tree and sumptuous dinner. The tale was an imaginative journey of the little girl which ended in her death.
