HELLO THERE!!

The location of India on the world map is unique. Here are some reasons why:

1. Firstly, India is peninsular, i.e., it is surrounded by sea (ocean) on three of its sides.

2. The latitudinal extent of India is from 8°7` N to 37°6`N, so the Tropic of Cancer (23°30`N) passes almost through the middle of the country, thus giving it two types of climate.

3.The parts located near the coast experiences equable type of climate and hence, get the moderating effect of the sea. The parts located far from the coast (in the interior of the country) do not get the moderating effect of the sea, hence, they experience extreme type of climate.

4. Due to such location of India, India is also called a Land of Sharp Contrasts, because note two places, Ladakh, where the temperature reaches -45°C, and Rajasthan, where the temperature reaches 50°C.

5. For similar reasons, Thar desert receives 20cm of annual rainfall and Cherrapunji receives 250 cm of average rainfall.

HOPE MY ANSWER IS SATISFACTORY...

The location of India on world map is unique.
The Indian landmass has a central location between the East and the West Asia. The trans Indian Ocean routes which connect the countries of Europe in the West and the countries of East Asia provide strategic central location to India. No other country has a long coastline on the Indian ocean as India has and Indeed,it is India's eminent position in the Indian Ocean which justifies the naming of the ocean after it.The Deccan peninsula protrudes into the Indian ocean ,thus helping India to establish close contact with West Asia,Africa and Europe from the Western coast and with southeast and East Asia from the eastern coast.
