THE LONGITUDINAL AND LATITUDINAL EXTENT OF INDIA IS ABOUT 30°. DESPITE THE EAST - WEST EXTENT APPEARS TO BE SMALLER THAN THE NORTH - SOUTH EXTENT? Why ?

The longitudinal and the latitudinal extent of India is almost the same despite the east-west length being shorter than the north-south length because the Earth is not a perfect sphere.It is slightly flattened at the poles,making it a geoid.Due to this reason,the longitudes scattered farther apart than the latitudes.
