The constitution has a preamble and 470 articles, which are grouped into 25 parts. With 12 schedules and five appendices, it has been amended 104 times; the latest amendment became effective on 14 January 2019.

When it comes to the Indian Constitution, it has the most extensive and longest written constitution among other constitution in the world. Primarily, it  consists of 395 Articles divided into  22 parts and 8 schedules and was around 145,000 words in length which made it the longest handwritten public Constitution.

Presently, it comprises 448 articles which are divided into 25 parts, 12 schedules and 103 amendments.

Why there is a need to divide the constitution?

• When the main body of the constitution is divided into the multiple branches it make sure that every branch holds the certain jurisdictions.
• The Government of India is divided into the three branches to perform different activities: the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial.
