Given :  The manager of a candy store wants to prepare 200kg of a mixture for a Halloween promotion to sell at $4.84 per kg.

To find :  How much $4 per kg candy should be combined with $5.20 per kg candy for the required mix

Solution:

Total Mixture = 200 kg

Price = 4.84  $ per kg

Total amount = 200 * 4.84  =  968 $

Let say $4 per kg candy  = C   kg

then $5.2 per kg candy = 200 - C  kg

Total Price =  4C  + 5.2(200 - C)

= 1040 - 1.2C $

1040 - 1.2C = 968

=> 1.2C =  72

=> C = 60

200 - C = 140

$4 per kg candy   = 60 kg

$5.2 per kg candy  = 140 kg
