Rayon is a type of man-made fibre. It is made up from purified cellulose and the source of it wood pulp or cotton. Under rayon come its different kinds.

They are- Viscose, modal and lyocel. Each of them is manufactured in a different process and as such their properties are also different.

As rayon is in great demand for clothing, to manufacture adequate amount of rayon, trees are being cut down on large scale and thus deforestation is increasing.
