m.p. of mobile phone =8000
discount percent =20 percent
therefore,discount=20÷100×8000=1600
now,s.p.=8000-1600=6400
profit %=25%
therefore,c.p.=6400×100÷(100+25)=6400×100÷125=1280×4=5120

let the price of article be ' x '

Given market price =₹8000

Find the profit :
---------------------

profit = 25 % = 25 % of C.P

= 25 % of x = ₹ 0.25 x

Find the selling price :
-------------------------------

selling price = cost price + profit

S.P = x + 0.25x = ₹ 1.25x

Find the discount :
--------------------------

discount = 20 % market price

= 20%of 8000 = 0.2 × 8000 = ₹ 1600

Find the cost price :
---------------------------

selling price = market price - discount

1.25x = ₹8000 - ₹1600 = ₹ 6400

1.25x = 6400=> 125x ÷ 100 = 6400

125x = 640000 => x = ₹ 5120

cost price of mobile phone = ₹5120

Answer : cost price = ₹ 5120
