The marked price of an article is rupees 1200. A customer purchased it for rupees 1020 . Find the discount per cent offered to the customer.

the marketed price of an article = 1200₹

costumer purchased it at cost = 1020₹

discount price = 1200-1020

= 180₹

discount price ======> 180/1200×100

= 15%

Solution:

The marked price = 1200

The selling price = 1020

Discount percentage = ?

discount = M.P. - S.P.

              = 1200 - 1020

              = 180

Discount percent = 180/1200 × 100

                             = 15%.

∴ the discount offered is 15%
