The mass of a density bottle of volume 50cm^3 is 10g when empty. Aluminium turning are poured into the bottle and the total masses is 60g. Water is then added into the turnings till the bottle is full .if the total mass of bottle and its contents is 90g. calculate density of aluminium turnings.(density of water is 1g/cm^3).

Answer:

The mass of a density bottle is 25g when empty, 50g when filled completely with water and 365g when filled completely with mercury. Find the density of mercury.

Hard

Solution

13.6 g/cc

density = mass/ volume

mass of empty bottle=25g

mass of bottle filled with water=50g

mass of liquid =25g

volume of liquid=25ml

volume of mercury=25ml

mass of mercury=365−25=340g

density of mercury=340/25=13.6 g/cm
