the material to be electroplated should be connected to cathode
The metal contains positive ions i.e., cations which are deposited on the negative terminal

Hey Friend,

Electroplating - It is the electrolytic process of deposition of a superior metal on the surface of a baser metal or article.

Two important conditions for electroplating -

1. The article to be electroplated is always placed at the cathode...
During electrolytic reaction, the metal is always deposited at the cathode by gain of electrons.

2. The metal to be plated on the article is always made the anode...
The metal anode continuously dissolves as ions in the solution and is hence replaced periodically.

Hope it helps!
