The maximum stress that can be applied to the matenal
guess that can be applied to the material of a wire employed to suspend an elevator is -

Using F=ma

T-mg = ma

T=m (a+g)

900 x (9.8 + 2.2)​ = 10810 N

stress ➰ = T/pie r2

➰pie  r2 = T

r2 = 10800/3/pie x 10 (8) x pie

r = 6mm
