\bf\bigstar{QUESTION}

The mean marks of team of four members is 48. If a new member is added to the team, the mean is increased to 53. Find the score of the new member.

\bf\bigstar{ANSWER}

Formulae of calculating mean =

                         \huge{\boxed{\bf{\dfrac{Sum\:of \:observation}{No.\:of\:observations}}}}

The mean marks of 4 students = 48.

∴ We can assume total marks as 'X'.

Total no. of students = 4.

Then mean,

\implies\bf{\dfrac{X}{4}= 48}

\implies\bf{X = 48 \:x\:4}

\implies\bf{X = 192}

Verification ;

\bf{Mean= \dfrac{192}{4}= 48}

After the new member joined,

Mean = 53

Now the total no. of members = 5

∴ Now we can take new total marks = X'

\implies\bf{\dfrac{X'}{5}= 53}

\implies\bf{X'= 53\:x\:5}

\implies\bf{X'= 265}

Marks of the new member = X' - X

ie,

X' - X = 265 - 192

 265 - 192 = 73

\huge{\boxed{\bf{Marks\:of\:new\:member= 73}}}}

Hope this answer can helps u dear ! ♥
