the mean of 1, 7, 5, 3, 4 and 4 is m. the mean of 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 3 and P is (m-1) and the median Q. find the value of P and Q​

Answer:

data set = 1,7,5,3,4,4

mean is m = 1+7+5+3+4+4 ÷ 6

                 = 24÷6

                 = 4

mean of (m-1 ) = 3+2+4+2+3+3+p ÷ 7

              4-1   =  (17 +p ) ÷7

             3 × 7 = 17 + p

               21   = 17 + p

              21-17= p

                    4 = p

to find the median of Q , arrange the no.'s in ascending order :-

         2,2,3,3,3,4,4 ( odd observation)

∴ {(n+1) / 2} th obs. = (7+1 )/2

                               =  8/2

                               = 4th obs.

∵ "3" is the 4th obs.

∵∴ m=4 ; p=4 ; Q=3
