the mean of 10 observation is 12.later on it was found that two observations 2 and 5 were wrongly mistaken as 4 and 6.calculate correct mean.

no. of observations = 10
mean = 12
sum of the observations /no. of observations = 12
sum of the observations /10 = 12
sum of the observations = 12 × 10 = 120
5 and 2 were wrongly mistaken as 4 and 6
5 + 2 = 7
4 + 6 = 10
so, by mistake they have added three extra
therefore, sum of observations = 120 - 3 = 117
mean = sum of observations / no. of observations
= 117 / 10 = 11.7
