Step-by-step explanation:

mean of 10 observations

 =  200

total sum is 2000

let no of observations be x1 , x2 ... x1

2000 = x1 + x2...x1 \div 10

x1 + x2...x10 = 2000 \times 10

if 5 is multiplied each one then:

new numbers are (x1×5),(x2×5)...(x10×5)

new mean =

(x1 \times 5) + (x2 \times 5) + ....(x10 \times 5) \div 10

=

(x1 + x2...x10)5 \div 10 \\  \\  \\  = 2000 \times 10 \times 5 \div 10 \\  \\  = 10000 \\
