Hi ,

It is given that ,

Mean of 16 members = 8

If 2 is added to every number the

new mean = old mean + 2

= 8 + 2

= 10

I hope this helps you.

mean \:  =  \:  \frac{sum \: of \: observations \: }{number \: of \: observations}

mean \:  =  \frac{sum \: of \: 16 \: numbers \: }{16}

8 =  \frac{sum \: of \: 16 \: numbers}{16}

8× 16 = sum of 16 numbers

128 = sum of 16 numbers

-----------------------------------------------

When 2 added to each number,

mean \:  =  \frac{sum \: of \: 16 \: numbers +  (2 \times 16)}{16}

mean \:  =  \frac{128 + 32}{16}

mean \:  =  \:  \frac{160}{16}

mean \:  = 10

I hope this will help you
