Lets write the mean formula first:

$Mean = \frac{Sum of all Observations}{Total number of Observations}$

So Substituting in the formula we get,

= $8 = \frac{x}{16}$

= x = 8 × 16

= x = 128

Now 2 is added to each number. Hence,

Total numbers = 16 × 2 = 32

Hence 32 is the new sum added to the original sum

Hence new sum = 128 + 32 = 160

Hence substituting in the formula, we get

= $Mean = \frac{160}{16}$

=> New Mean = 10

Hence the new mean is 10.
