The new mean is :

The mean of 5 observation is 10 if each observation of the data is increased by 5.

• Mean, M = x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5 / 5 = 10

• When each data is increased by 5 then new mean will be

• M' = x1 + 5 + x2 + 5 + x3 + 5 + x4 + 5

+ x5 + 5 / 5

= x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5 + 25 / 5

= (x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5 / 5) +

25/5

= M + 5

• Hence, New mean value will be M + 5
