Given that the mean of 50 observations is 20.

Let the 50 observations be x1,x2,x3......+x50.

(x1 + x2 + x3....+x50)/50 = 20

(x1 + x2 + x3...+x50) = 20 * 50

(x1 + x2 + x3...+x50) = 1000   --------- (1).

Given that each of observations is multiplied by 3.

Therefore the new observations will be

3x1,3x2,3x3....+3x50

Therefore the new mean = (3x1 + 3x2 + 3x3....+3x50)/20

                                           = 3(x1 + x2 + x3...+x50)/20

                                           = 3(1000)/20

                                           = 150.

Therefore the new mean = 150.

Hope this helps!
