THANKS FOR THE QUESTION !

MEAN :

SUM OF ALL NO. / TOTAL NO.

6 + 10 + 11 + X + 12 + Y / 6

39 + X + Y / 6

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

BUT MEAN = 10

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

10 = 39 + X + Y / 6

10 * 6 = 39 + X + Y

60 = 39 + X + Y

X + Y = 60 - 39

X + Y = 21 .................... equation 1

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

Y IS 7 MORE THAN X

Y = X + 7

SUBSTITUTE THIS VALUE IN EQUATION 1

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

X + X + 7 = 21

2X + 7 = 21

2 X = 21 - 7

2X = 14

X = 14 / 2

X = 7

Y = X + 7

Y = 7 + 7

Y = 14

ANSWER :

X = 7

Y = 14

The value of X is 7 and Y is 14.

Total number of numbers = 6

Sum of the 6 numbers = (6 + 10 + 11 + X + 12 + Y) = (39 + X + Y)           ...(1)

As Y is more than X by 7, so we can write Y in terms of X as:

Y = X + 7                                                                                                    ...(2)

Replacing this value of Y in eqn.(1), we get:

Sum of the 6 numbers = (39 + X + X + 7) = (46 + 2X)

We know Arithmetic Mean = (Total sum of the numbers)/(Number of numbers)

= (46 + 2X)/6

Given, Mean = 10

So, (46 + 2X)/6 = 10

⇒ (46 + 2X) = 60

⇒ 2X = 60 - 46 = 14

⇒ X = 14/2 = 7

So, X = 7

Putting the value of X in eqn. (2), we get :

Y = 7 + 7 = 14

So, Y = 14.
