Given that mean of five numbers = 30.

Sum of five observations = 5 * 30

                                          = 150.

Given that one number is excluded.

∴ Number of observations = 5 - 1 = 4.

The mean of 4 observations = 28.

∴ Sum of 4 observations = 4 * 28

                                         = 112.

⇒ Excluded number = 150 - 112

                                  = 38.

Therefore, excluded number is 38.

Hope it helps!
