Answer:

Let the integers are a, b, c and d.

Mean = 5

= > ( a + b + c + d ) / 5 = 5

= > a + b + c + d = 25 ---(1)

Median = 6

= > [ (2nd term) + (3rd term) ]/2 = 6

= > [ b + c ] / 2 = 6

= > b + c = 12

Substituting the value of b + c in (1)

= > a + 12 + d = 25

= > a + d = 25 - 12

= > a + d = 13

= > ( smallest + largest ) =13

= > ( smallest + largest ) / 2 = 13/2

= > mean of smallest and largest integer

= 6.5

Required value is 6.5
