Heya ,

mean=sum of all observation/no of observation

sum of all observation=21+x+y
no of observation=7

so 5=,21+x+y/7

35-21=x+y
14=x+y
hope it help you

Mean = (Sum of observations)/(Total no. of observations)

According to the data,
Sum of observations = 6+3+x+4+3+5+y= 21+x+y
Total no. of observations = 7 ( Including x and y) (as they are also some constants)

Now,
Mean = (21+x+y)/7,
But according the data, it is equal to 5,

now equal them,
=> 5 = (21+x+y)/7 , Cross multiply,
=> 35 = 21+x+y,
=> 14 = x + y,

Therefore x + y = 14, and it is the answer,

Hope you understand !

Have a great day !!
