we know

mean is sum of observation / total number of observation..

here sum of observation is sum of n natural number.. i.e.

 \frac{n(n + 1)}{2}

and total number of observation is n

so the mean is

 \frac{ \frac{n(n + 1)}{2} }{n}  =  \frac{n(n + 1)}{2n}
